We have selected Fondation Le Corbusier as the world's very best website on Le Corbusier.
The Fondation Le Corbusier was established in 1968, with support from the French Ministry of Culture, to preserve and promote the work of the leading modernist architect Le Corbusier. The Fondation owns the premises of its headquarters, the Villa La Roche and Villa Jeanneret, which were designed by Le Corbusier.
The Fondation also owns the apartment at rue Nungesser et Coli in Paris 16e, which Le Corbusier occupied from 1933 to 1965, and the 'Small House' he built for he parents in 1924 at Corseaux on the shore of Lac Leman.
The Fondation Le Corbusier website is available in French and English. It is organized into the following main sections: The Fondation, Biography of Le Corbusier, Architecture & Urbanism of Le Corbusier, Furniture Designed by Le Corbusier, Plastic Works by Le Corbusier, Bibliography, and Related Organizations.
The Biography section, which is in French, gives a detailed chronology of Le Corbusier's life, from his birth (as Charles-Edouard Jeanneret) in 1887, to his death which took place in 1965 while he was swimming in the Mediterranean Sea at Cap Martin. The Architecture section includes a complete chronological list of Le Corbusier's architectural projects, with in most cases color images.
