The All About Birds website is published by the Cornell Laboratory of Ornithology. The Laboratory is a non-profit membership organization with the mission of interpreting and conserving biodiversity through research and education focused on birds. Its research work includes: Bird Population Studies, Bioacoustics Research Program, Evolutionary Biology Program, Macaulay Library of Natural Sounds, and BirdSource Projects. 

The All About Birds website is organized into the following main sections: About the Lab, Lab Programs, Publications, Shop Online, and Membership. There are also sections on: Birding 123, Bird Guide, Gear Guide, Attracting Birds, Conservation, and Learn About Birds.
 
The Bird Guide contains illustrated articles on several hundred birds, which can be searched or browed by Taxonomic Order or alphabetically. Each article includes an image of the bird, a description, information on conservation status, maps showing the distribution of the bird, links to references, and facilities to listen to the bird's song online.
