Performers of traditional Chinese magic needed good acrobatic skills, since under their flowing robes they would conceal dozens of objects weighing as much as 100 pounds in total. While doing somersaults they would produce objects such as bowls filled with water or blazing metal bowls.

Chinese acrobats are skilled in juggling, particularly with their feet. They juggle light and heavy objects including wine buckets, porcelain jars, tables, ladders, poles, planks, drums, gongs, and silk umbrellas.
